Hunter x Hunter has been in a prolonged hiatus, but fans are hopeful for the iconic manga and anime's return.
- Hunter x Hunter's manga and anime have been on hiatus for a while, leaving fans anxious about the series' future.
- Yoshihiro Togashi has given vague updates, ensuring that the series is still in progress.
- Despite the lack of concrete announcements, signs suggest that Hunter x Hunter might return soon.
Yoshihiro Togashi's Hunter x Hunter is one of the most beloved shonen manga and anime series. However, it is also notorious for its lengthy hiatuses due to Togashi's severe health issues. After resuming work in October 2022, Togashi had to take another break in December 2022, which continues to this day.
Both Weekly Shonen Jump and fans of Hunter x Hunter understand Togashi's situation. The editors didn't drop the series but suggested it be moved to a less demanding publication schedule. After months of silence, Togashi revealed that Chapter 401 was finished and that he was working on several more. Unfortunately, there's no definitive news about a new anime season.
The last chapter, 400, was released on December 26, 2022.
In Chapter 400, Feitan and Phinks encounter Nobunaga, Melody attends important meetings, Fugetsu faces darkness, and Kurapika agrees to help Prince Tubeppa. The chapter continues the Succession Contest Arc, which remains far from over. Gon has yet to return to the main storyline since Chapter 345. The fans have much at stake in the HxH universe.
On March 9, 2023, Togashi announced that Chapter 401 was ready for publication, pending Shonen Jump's decision on its release. On October 2, 2023, Togashi tweeted about "starting [something] over," which left fans curious and excited. Although Chapter 401's release date is still unknown, Togashi's updates have been encouraging.
The anime revival in 2011 concluded with the "13th Hunter Chairman Election" arc, leaving the "Dark Continent Expedition" and "Succession Contest" arcs unadapted. The anime hasn't been officially canceled, but no new episodes have been released since 2014, and there have been no updates from Shonen Jump or Madhouse.
