Second Season Announced for Call of the Night (Yofukashi no Uta) Anime

After its initial debut in 2022, the first season of the Call of the Night (Yofukashi no Uta) anime has garnered enough acclaim to warrant a second season, as unveiled during the Fuji TV Anime Lineup Press Conference 2024. Alongside this announcement, fans were treated to a glimpse of the new season through a teaser visual and video. The forthcoming season is set to grace screens on Fuji TV's Noitamina programming block, in addition to other channels.

Authored by Kotoyama (best known for Dagashi Kashi), the Call of the Night manga first graced the pages of Shogakukan's Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine in August 2019. Shogakukan is set to unveil the 20th compiled volume of the series on March 18.

The story is as follows:

Kou Yamori is an average middle school student who struggles with grasping the complex concept of love. Because he sees little sense in surrendering to the norm, he soon stops going to school. Plagued with insomnia due to his idleness, Kou begins roaming the lonesome streets at night.

One night, Kou encounters a bizarre girl named Nazuna Nanakusa who believes that people stay awake during the night because they are dissatisfied with how they spent their day and cannot rest until they release their inhibitions. Nazuna offers to help Kou with his sleep issues and invites him over to her place, where she convinces him to share a futon with her. Feeling uncomfortable, Kou only pretends to doze off—which is when Nazuna suddenly bites his neck, revealing herself to be a vampire!

While Kou thinks the bite will turn him into a vampire, the specifics of transforming are not that simple. In order to change, he must be bitten by someone he truly loves. Ready to let go of his dreary mortal life, Kou decides on a new goal: he will fall in love with Nazuna and become a vampire himself.

Under the direction of Tomoyuki Itamura (known for his work on the Monogatari series), the first season of Call of the Night was crafted by LIDEN FILMS, with Tetsuya Miyanishi assuming the role of chief director. Scripting duties were expertly handled by Michiko Yokote (renowned for contributions to series such as Bleach, Shirobako, Prison School, and Cowboy Bebop), while character design was overseen by Haruka Sagawa (notable for Happy-Go-Lucky Days).

An official first poster has also been released!
We can't wait either !
