Monogatari Series Off & Monster Season Anime: Staff Lineup and 2024 Launch Confirmed

The teaser for the Monogatari Series Off & Monster Season anime, unveiled during AnimeJapan 2024, has confirmed the lineup of staff members and the anticipated launch in 2024 with the Orokamonogatari story. 

Akiyuki Simbo, a seasoned figure in the franchise, takes on the role of chief director, while Midori Yoshizawa directs the anime. Fuyashi Tou returns as the series script supervisor alongside Simbo, and Miku Ooshima contributes to the scripts. The character design and chief animation direction are handled by Akio Watanabe, supported by Nobuhiro Sugiyama and Kana Miyai. Satoru Kōsaki returns to compose the music.

Other key staff members include Hisaharu Iijima as the art director, Yasuko Watanabe as the colour key artist, Hisato Shima as the CG director, Hiyori Hashimoto and Mizuho Ishikawa as compositing directors of photography, Rie Matsubara as the editor, and Yota Tsuruoka as the sound director. Studio SHAFT is back to adapt the Off-Season and Monster Season books from NisiOisin's Monogatari series, as indicated in the initial announcement of its production this year.

The teaser also revealed a captivating key visual designed by Akio Watanabe, featuring the tagline "Youth continues into the past and the future." Aniplex had previously teased this project under the codenames "O" and "M."

The Monogatari series, originating from NisiOisin's novels with the debut of Bakemonogatari in 2006, has seen several adaptations leading to its "final season" concluding with Zoku Owarimonogatari in 2014. The subsequent "Off Season" and "Monster Season" volumes expanded the series with short stories and a college-based continuation, culminating in the recent release of Ikusamonogatari in May 2023.
