Art House will distribute the film Pompo the Cinephile in France starting next July.
Great news for fans of Japanese animation! The distributor Art House will bring to French cinemas this summer the film Pompo the Cinephile (Eiga Daisuki Pompo-san), directed by Takayuki Hirao in 2021.
Adapted from a manga by Shogo Sugitani, the feature film will arrive in French theaters on July 3, 2024. The movie was already released in English theatres during the summer 2022.
Released in 2021 in Japan, it is produced by the Clap studio, with the experienced Takayuki Hirao (The Garden of Sinners) directing. The rest of the staff is made up of the famous Shingo Adachi (Sword Art Online) on chara-design, with Kenta Matsukuma (heard on Black Clover or Fairy Tail) on musical compositions.

Gene is a production assistant to the talented film producer Pompo. He is fascinated by cinema and is a film buff who remembers all the films he has seen. He has always wanted to make films, but he despises the idea that it is impossible for him to do so. However, when Mr Pompo entrusts him with the production of a 15-second commercial, he discovers the joy of immersing himself in film-making. One day, Jean is handed the script for her next film, MEISTER, by Mr Pompo. It is the return of the legendary actor and is head-numbingly exciting. He is convinced that it will be a big hit, but ...... to his surprise, it is Gene, whose commercials have been highly praised, who is nominated to direct the film! With Pompo's discerning new actress as the heroine, the tumultuous filming was about to begin.
