Trapped in a Dating Sim Manga Gets 'Study Abroad' Arc With New Staff

The manga Trapped in a Dating Sim is set to begin a new "Study Abroad" arc with fresh creative staff. According to the October issue of Kadokawa's Monthly Dragon Age magazine, the manga adaptation of Yomu Mishima’s light novel Trapped in a Dating Sim: The World of Otome Games is Tough for Mobs will be rebranded as Otome Game Sekai wa Mob ni Kibishii Sekai desu Ryūgaku-hen (Study Abroad Arc).

Tanuki Odoro will take over as the new artist, with Seishirō Matsuri overseeing composition and FTops handling production. Jun Shiosato, the original artist, explained on their X (formerly Twitter) account that the staff change was amicable, and they chose to step down due to challenges in continuing with future story developments.

Trapped in a Dating Sim follows Leon, a young man reincarnated into a harsh otome game world where men are treated poorly. Armed with his knowledge of the dating sim genre, Leon must navigate the challenges of this new life and fight back against an oppressive system.

The manga, which began in 2018 on Kadokawa’s Dra Dra Dragon Age website, has since moved across multiple platforms and will see its 13th volume released on November 9. The original light novel series, launched by Mishima in 2017, ended with its 13th volume in March 2023. A second season of the anime adaptation, which aired its first season in April 2022, is currently in the works.
