The popular One Piece anime adaptation of Eiichiro Oda's manga is set to resume its ongoing Egghead Arc in April 2025, according to a teaser video released on Sunday. The announcement was made on Sunday evening.
In the meantime, One Piece fans can look forward to a special airing lineup. Starting on October 20, the One Piece Fan Letter special will premiere, followed by a specially edited version of the Fish-Man Island arc on October 27. The edited arc, titled One Piece Log: Fish-Man Island Saga, will span 21 episodes and feature reshot scenes, enhanced artwork, updated color shading, lighting, special effects, and a Dolby Atmos soundtrack.
As part of the special, the Straw Hat Pirates (Mugiwara no Ichimi) will perform a new version of the opening theme "We Go!" which was originally sung by Hiroshi Kitadani. Additionally, the boy band BE:FIRST, will contribute the new ending theme, "Sailing."
Toei Animation also confirmed a new schedule for the anime's regular Sunday timeslot, which will be "on recharge" until March 2025. More details about the anime's return, including the new timeslot, will be revealed at Jump Festa 2025 on December 22.
In other One Piece news, the One Piece Base smartphone app, which includes a manga reader and other franchise-related content, is launching in Japan on Sunday and is expected to expand globally in 2025. The app will feature a unique Nigaoe Maker that turns fans’ photos into illustrations inspired by Oda’s signature style.
Earlier on Sunday, a promotional video for the One Piece Fan Letter special was streamed on the franchise’s official YouTube channel. The special, based on Tomohito Ōsaki's One Piece novel Mugiwara Stories, celebrates the anime’s 25th anniversary.
Meanwhile, One Piece Film Red, released in August 2022, continues to set records as the franchise’s highest-grossing film, earning 20.33 billion yen (approximately US$137 million) by the end of its run in November 2023. It currently ranks as the sixth highest-grossing film of all time in Japan.
Additionally, a second season of Netflix’s live-action One Piece series is in development, alongside a remake of the anime at Wit Studio.
