Fans of Grand Blue Dreaming can rejoice as the popular anime is officially returning for a second season. The announcement came on Sunday from the staff and cast of the anime adaptation of Kenji Inoue and Kimitake Yoshioka's hit comedy manga.
The upcoming season will pick up with Iori's return to Izu after completing his diving license training in Okinawa, with a new twist involving a letter from his younger sister, Shiori.
Animation studio Zero-G is back for season 2, and they’re now joined by studio Liber. Key staff members returning include director, scriptwriter, and sound director Shinji Takamatsu, character designer and chief animation director Hideoki Kusama, as well as sound production studio Saber Links.
However, there are some notable changes to the production team. Reiji Kasuga takes over as art director, jimao replaces Hiroshi Ogawa for prop design, Naoyuki Katō steps in as the compositing director of photography, and Shun Tokuda will handle editing. Yukari Hashimoto, known for Mr. Osomatsu and Sarazanmai, is now in charge of composing the music.

The Grand Blue Dreaming manga, first launched in Good! Afternoon magazine in April 2014, continues to gain momentum. Kodansha USA is releasing the English digital version, and the 23rd volume is set to ship on October 7. The manga previously inspired a television anime in 2018 and a live-action film in 2020.
Fans can expect more laughs, wild antics, and underwater adventures as the second season prepares to dive back into the hilarious world of college life and diving.
